Birth and Journey of Higher Praise

Following the passing of a great man of God in 2005, Rev. Dr. Robert Stone, pastor of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, a remnant of his sheep gathered to began Bible Study in their homes. The study was led by Pastor Stone’s assistant, Rev. Catherine T. Parker. God used this group of people to do many “works” for Him. They gathered food and clothing and gave to those in need. They spent a night making cards for the troops to be included in care packages. They sent other perishable goods to the troops. The remnant gathered for Christmas and went caroling. Other “projects” were taken on and they found so much joy in serving.

Noticing the hunger, the thirst and growth of all involved, Rev. Parker asked God if the timing was right to birth a physical church. The remnant began praying for a building to meet, a place where they could call “home”. God orchestrated it so that Rev. Parker could meet with the owner of the building in which they previously resided. An agreement was made and Higher Praise Christian Church (HPCC) was birthed on December 2, 2007 and what an awesome birth it was!!!

God promised this young congregation a NEW THING on New Year’s Eve of 2010 and, on September 1, 2010, HPCC entered into a brand new lease for a significantly upgraded home! This new location had over 2 ½ times more space for the church to grow into having classroom space, larger sanctuary, Pastor’s Study, and separate kitchen area. God has been faithful and has kept the doors open with a small but dedicated and close-knit group of people. His Power has been seen!

Higher Praise has donated goods to homeless shelters, nursing homes, family-focused charitable organizations, and members of its surrounding community. God has positioned His people in places where they are blessed to be blessings to others.

Higher Praise is determined to be a place where Love abides, where others can come in out of the cold of life and find warmth and shelter. HPCC is striving to be an obedient church with open doors and hearts. Matthew 25:35-36 – “For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visisted me.” The Lord will tell HPCC this because this is their purpose and desire in order to please Him. He will also tell them (us) … WELL DONE, MY GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANTS because they are determined to do His Will.

The members at HPCC are moving to a Higher Place of Praise … experiencing God in a way that some only talk about. They love worshiping Him in the beauty of His holiness. His presence is so awesome in this place. They thank God for the blessing of just being here … for being here in this hour and looking forward to greater things in HIM each day.
