How God blessed us on last evening as we waited for the NEW YEAR – 2011 - to arrive!  Higher Praise Christian Church hosted the service.  Rhema Christian Ministry (Pastor Sabrina St. Clair and family), along with others, joined in with us in anticipation and celebration.  Our Theme: REFLECTING AND MOVING FORWARD.  Text: Deuteronomy 6:4-18, focusing on verses 4-5.

God had spoken to my spirit that this was not a time of preaching anybody happy or singing them up to their feet but a time to REFLECT … a time to REMEMBER what HE has brought us THROUGH during 2010. He said it should be a time of SHARING with others, a time to encourage them along their way.  After Invocation and the setting of the atmosphere by singing HALLELUJAH IN THIS PLACE and a few others praise/worship songs, we were blessed to have Pastor Marvin Jackson with us who offered up a few old time favorites.

Then I opened the “floor” for reflections/testimonials … Tell me what challenges you’ve been through this year that God brought you through? Encourage somebody else, help somebody else in here see that no matter what is going on, they can make it if they just continue trusting God, believing for their miracle(s).  Tell us how GOD has grown you … And did GOD ever bless us through His people!!!!!!!! Certainly HPCC has been under mighty! attacks since the Lord blessed us with the new building, so much sickness, etc. but! … all were there to testify of DELIVERANCE!  Then WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT for 2011 was given by Pastor Sabrina St. Clair, Pastor Marvin Jackson and Pastor Catherine Parker.  God truly blessed again and again!

Pastor Parker reminded those present of the promises God had made last New Year Eve as we joined with Rhema at their church.  He had given us Scripture from Isaiah 43:18-21 where verse 19 told us about A NEW THING God was doing within us anf for us.  She reminded all of an anointed man of God who had given them a CD with a song called … NEW THING …. that minister was Rev. Joshua Cole.  HPCC had clung to the promises God made and in September we moved into the new building, it was truly a God-ordained possession of the “Land”.

Pastor Parker ended the service by reading a poem sent to her by a minister friend who is in the midst of a trail but still he’s encouraged, in a prison situation but in a palace mentality!  The name of the poem is – HANG IN THERE.  Finally, the last song of th night was – JESUS IS THE LIGHT THAT SHINETH IN ME!  Little credit card lights had been passed out to everyone in the sanctuary and they were told not to open until told.  All the lights in the sanctuary were turned down/off and as the song was playing, a request to open and hold every light up for others to see … the lights lighted the place and we were able to see each other.  They were reminded that the LIGHT OF JESUS should be shining through us all, to go out and light up the world in 2011! … TELL SOMEBODY ABOUT JESUS …. After all of this, we gathered for a “light” meal … smiles … too late for this light meal but it was goooooooood! …. black-eyed peas, vegetable soup, greens, BBQ chicken, fried chicken, cornbread, tea, punch and coffee ….. We parted in prayer and went home and slept like babies knowing that God had His watchful eye on everything. What a blessed night!!!!!!!  Just reflecting and being encouraged by the word of the testimonies of others …. fulfilled …. not pumped up, not hyped … but ASSURED that we know how to take on the challenges of 2011.  We also know how to continue in service as we continuously worship our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

We give thanks to GOD for all that HE gave unto us during this precious fellowship time with our brothers and sisters in the LORD.

Happy New Year people of God!!!!!!!!  May it be full of power! … full of praise and full of GOD purpose!

Deuteronomy 6:4-5 (New King James Version) – 4 “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one!  5 You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.”
